The Spoken Tutorial Resource Centre of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organised a two-day faculty development programme from 15th to 16th January 2014 in association with IIT, Bombay. Inaugurating the program, Hon’ble Principal Prof. (Dr.) M.N. Hussain expressed that the Spoken Tutorial Project is the initiative of the "Talk to a Teacher" project of the National Mission on Education through ICT, Government of India. He said that thisproject would be helpful to the faculty members in acquiring skills related to different softwares like Linux, LaTeX, Python, Basic IT Skills and Open Foam etc. |
The objective of this training program was to provide hands-on exposure in the field of Application Software, System Software and Embedded Software. A dedicated team of R&D Experts and Professionals working in these specialized areas imparted advanced training to attendees. |
Inaugurating the training program Mr. Sharan, Scientist ‘C’ C-DAC, Hyderabad emphasized on the relevance and importance of Network traffic analysis, configuring host based Firewall etc in the present technology-driven professional world. During the inaugural ceremony Mr. A. K. Arora, Head of Information Technology Department, Mr. Abhinav Mishra, Scientist ‘B’ NIELIT, Gorakhpur, Mr. Pawan Kumar Mall, Project Associate NIELIT, Gorakhpur were also present. Mr. A. K Arora and Mr. Abhinav Mishra explained about the Information security, Training schedule, Module covered in training and Virtual Training Environment etc. |
During the first week of the program, the distinguished experts Mr. Abhinav Mishra (Scientist ‘B’ NIELIT, Gorakhpur) and Mr. Pawan Kumar Mall (Project Associate NIELIT, Gorakhpur)made the participants well aware of theoretical and practical aspects of a number of technical topics like Information Gathering and Countermeasures, Sniffing and Countermeasures, Brute Force attack and Countermeasures, IP Spoofing with DOS and Countermeasures; Trojan, Backdoor, Virus and Countermeasures; Bypassing Proxy and Countermeasures; SQL Injection Attack and Countermeasures; Code Injection and Countermeasures; E-mail Spoofing , Phishing and Countermeasures; Hacking Wireless Network and Countermeasures etc. |
In the second week Mr. Nandeeshwar, Project Engineer, C-DAC Hyderabad discussed the basic concepts of Virtual Box (Oracle VM Virtualization) Penetration Testing, Security on Network Devices (Switch and Router), Email Tracing and Wireless Security. Another guest-speaker Mr. Aakash kumar Goel, Project Engineer, C-DAC Hyderabaddescribed about Advanced Penetration Testing by Distinctive Approach and concept of Reverse Engineering. Mr. Rahul Kumar, Project Engineer, C-DAC Hyderabad imparted the theoretical as well as practical knowledge of Pythonand. |
The Lab session was conducted by Mr. Naushad (Project Engineer, C-DAC Hyderabad) and Mr. Nandeeshwar on Back Track Tool and Penetration Testing with Meta Sploit Tool. |
The training program was very much useful to the attendees as it was focused on practical aspects of Network Traffic Encryption, Installing and Configuring IDS, Host System Hardening (Windows), Host System Hardening (Linux), Evaluating Security etc. |
