IUCEE Research Academy

For

Women Candidates pursuing Ph.D in Computer science

In Engineering Education Institutions

On 18th -20th March, 2013

 

Chitra Kaul, Associate Professor CSE department represents Dronacharya College of Engineering, at the prestigious IUCEE Research Academy for Women candidates pursuing Ph.D in Computer Science. The program was held for 3 days from March 18th to 20th 2013 at CR Rao Advanced Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science (AIMSCS), Hyderabad, AP. It was organized by Indo US Collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE) and CR Rao AIMSCS. The Program was sponsored by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.

 

The objective of workshop was to provide mentoring for faculties in Indian colleges who are pursuing Ph.D, from Experts from US and India.

 

The Program started with an inaugural speech from Director, followed by all the experts present from India and USA.

 

On the first day of this workshop, CR RAO addressed the program. Prof. C. R. Rao is 93 years old and still inspiring people for doing quality research by providing venue for these types of programs. He is a Former Director of Indian Statistical Institute, Eberly Professor Emeritus of statistics, Pennsylvania State University, USA. Professor He is having 34 honorary doctoral degrees from universities in 19 countries spanning 6 continents (10 countries in Europe, 2 in North America, 2 in South America, 3 in Asia, Australia and Africa).

 

Each day of workshop consisted of 2 sessions, each session was started with expert talks on Research methodology and Guidance. It continued with presentation from each Ph.D candidate & followed by discussion and inputs from expert panel members. Session was categorized and dedicated for particular domain in the research field, where Ph.D scholars belonging to that field gave their presentation.

 

The experts who were at the event to evaluate the research work of the candidateswere:

1. Dr. R. K. Shyamasunder from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Mumbai, India.

2. Dr. Jeanna N. Matthews Clarkson University USA.

3. Dr. Ramki Thurimella University of Denver USA.

4. Dr. Gaurav Sharma University of Rochester USA.

5. Dr. Teresa A. Dahlberg USA.

6. Dr. C. E. Veni Madhavan from IIS Bangalore.
