SPORTS WEEK - 2012

Sports activities occupy a significant part in the curriculum of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon. Dronacharyans celebrated Annual Sports Week from 18th to 23rd February 2012. During this week the students participated in a number of sports and games like Cricket, Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Races, Table Tennis, Tug of War etc. Besides having merit in academics, they performed well in these games.

Dr. Satish Yadav, Hon’ble Chairman of Dronacharya Group of Institutions presided over the Sports Function as the Chief Guest and gave away prizes, tantalizing trophies and scintillating shields to the winners and runners up on closing ceremony, 23rd February 2012. Encouraging the sports spirit in students, he shared that the importance of sports in the life of a young student is invaluable. Sports provide numerous opportunities for children and teenagers to grow socially, emotionally, and physically. He reiterated that on sports ground the students learn discipline, responsibility, social-interaction, co-operation, accountability etc.

Hon’ble Principal Prof. (Dr.) B. M. K. Prasad appreciated the students girls and boys for participating in sports with a great zest and zeal. Addressing the students, he expressed that extra-curricular activities helps to develop the all round personality of the participants to face the undaunted task and turbulent world of future. He emphasised that experience and accolades gained through many of these activities also help during internships boost self-confidence and sense of achievement.

During the Sports Week 2012 - Mr. Gautam, the captain of winner team [Cricket boys], Ms. Deepika, the captain of winner team [Cricket Girls], Mr. Vivek, the captain of winner team [ Volley Ball Boys], Mr. Rohit, the captain of winner team [ Basket Ball Boys], Ms. Richa, the captain of winner team [Basket - Ball Girls], Mr. Abhilash, winner [Table - Tennis Boys Juniors], Mr. Lalit Garg , winner [Table - Tennis Boys Seniors], Ms Jogita, winner [Table - Tennis Girls], Mr. Himanshu, the captain of the winner team[ Tug - of - War Boys], Ms.Chetna, the captain of the winner team [ Tug - of – War Girls], Ms. Chahat, winner [Lemon Race Girls] Mr. Manish Rawat, winner [100 m. Race Boys], Ms. Nisha Yadav, winner [100 m. Race Girls], Mr. Rahul, winner [Sack Race Boys], Ms. Rajni, winner [Matka Race Girls] were the centre of attraction.

The sports function was concluded with a vote of thanks by Sports-in-charge Prof. (Dr.) H. S. Dua. On behalf of the students, staff and faculty members he expressed his gratitude to the Management, Hon’ble Principal, Dean Academics, Registrar and all HODs for providing all possible help and cooperation.
