Consultancy Development Centre (CDC) is an autonomous organization of Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, set up for promotion, development and strengthening of consultancy skills and capabilities in the country including enhancement of export of consultancy and professional services. Dronacharya College of Engg. (DCE), Khentawas, Gurgaon as a franchise model organized a two weeks course on “Certificate Program in Technical Consultancy” from 28 May -08 Jun 12 at its own campus. |
The course was inaugurated by Honorable Sh. S. K. Lalwani (Project Head CDC) and Principal Prof (Dr.) B. M. K. Prasad. There were 21 participants from various backgrounds like Engineering and Applied Sciences. |
Mr. S. K. Lalwani, Project Head CDC, during orientation discussed briefly about CDC, its scope and the activities undertaken to promote consultancy. He also briefed the various courses like MASTER OF SCIENCE (MS) Consultancy in collaboration with BITS PILANI, Certificate course in Management as well as Certificate course in Technical Consultancy. During the session, he clarified the doubts of participants regarding consultancy and future of consultancy in India. |

Sh. Navinder Gupta, Former ED. MECON Ltd., discussed about the consultancy, different types of consultancy and the consulting contracts. He also explained the need for communication skills for a good consultant. In addition he explained about various skills and competencies required for a technical consultant. |

Sh. Satish Sehta, Sr. Manager (Business Development), TCE Consulting Engineers Ltd. discussed about the Consultant Client relationship, how to build relationship with clients and various ethical and unethical issues with the help of a number of real life case studies. |
Mr. D. Vasudevan, IT Expert and Web Specialist, explained how to make a winning proposal for client, various methods of consultants selections and proposals. He also gave brief introduction about contracts, contract management and construction management. |
Mr. Sudhir Dhawan, Director Arther Engineering Solutions Pvt. Ltd. explained with case studies feasibility, technical study for securing, planning and executing a technical consulting project. |
Mr. Sunil Soni, Director Retail Banking & Insurance, Dell Services, a post graduate from BITS PILANI discussed about projects, how to manage the project, various steps and the techniques used in the project management by emphasizing on project life cycle. |
Overall the participants during the course benefited a lot from industry experts regarding technical consultancy. With this type of vast specialized knowhow, knowledge in their respective fields, one can make a fresh career in the ever expanding field of consultancy. Their employability increases many folds as there are not many training institutes in this field where as the demand for trained consultants is always increasing. |
