ICT WORKSHOP

A three-day workshop on “ICT Applications for E&C Laboratories” was organized by the Deptt. of Electronics & Communication Engineering from Aug 30th, 2012 to Sept 1st, 2012 at Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon in association with Department of Electronics and Information Technology of Ministry of Communication & IT, Govt. of India. The objective of this workshop was to have discussion on ICT, Scilab ,VLSI, Lab-view, Embedded- System, Telecom, and NS-2 etc.

Hon’ble Principal DCE, Gurgaon Prof. (Dr.) B. M. K. Prasad addressed the participants and urged for creating environment of project-fabrication for welfare of a common man. He further added that the scholars should come up with new strategies for imparting the applications of changing technologies. Prof. (Dr.) H. S. Dua, Head, Deptt. of Electronics & Communication Engineering motivated the participants and talked about benefits and further scope of ICT in the field of Electronics and Information Technology.

Inaugurating the workshop Dr. Ajay Kumar, Joint Secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology of Ministry of Communication & IT, Govt. of India, New Delhi stressed on the development of web/Internet Laboratories and lab on demand for various engineering laboratory courses. He explained that using this facility, the students get various opportunities of performing experiments from anywhere and anytime sharing the laboratory resources of other institutes through simulation techniques.

Two experts Mr. Pradeep Hegde and Ms. Shilpa Hegde from “National Instruments”, Bangalore gave hands-on demonstration on the “Lab View” software which can be used to suit varied applications. Mr. R. K. Kakkar and Mr. Sanjay from Telecom Industry were experts who also shared their views on the applications of recent technologies.

Another guest-speaker Mrs. Umang Singh, Application Developer & Associate Professor at ITS, Ghaziabad enriched the audience on “Performance of Ad-hoc Network Routing Protocol in Trustworthy Environment” using NS-2 simulator. She also discussed various protocols like dynamic routing protocol, on demand vector routing protocol etc.

The workshop was successful and useful to the participants including students, research scholars and faculty members. The participants were also given the certificates by Hon’ble Principal, DCE, Gurgaon.

The workshop ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. Vinay Nassa who expressed his heart-felt gratitude to the guest speakers and participants.
