On August 29th, 2013 the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized a Guest-Lecture on “Wireless Communication”. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Sunil Chavan, an expert from Delta System, Gurgaon.

The objective of this lecture was to discuss different aspects of Wireless Communication like Microelectronics, Microwaves & MMICs, Technology Innovation & its societal relevance, Technology Management, Wireless Communications including Mobile Cellular, Satellite and Personal Communication Systems.

The guest-speaker Mr. Sunil Chavan covered a wide range of topics including link budgets, dynamic range and system analysis of receivers and transmitters used in data link communications, digital modulation and demodulation techniques of phase-shift keyed and frequency hopped spread spectrum systems using phase diagrams, multipath, gain control, an intuitive approach to probability, jamming reduction method using various adaptive processes, error detection and correction, global positioning systems (GPS) data link, satellite communications, direction-finding and interferometers etc.

He also highlighted the latest technical developments in the field of wireless communication. Talking about the relevance of the topic he stated that Wireless communication has been growing rapidly with the potential for high-speed information exchange beyond geographical boundaries. Military, government agencies and commercial industries have both benefited from wireless applications as this technology overcomes boundaries that cannot be achieved with wired communications.

The students from ECE Department along with the faculty members attended the lecture. It provided an intuitive approach to transceiver design for Military and Commercial applications, allowing a broad spectrum of readers to understand the topics clearly. The lecture gave the students an exposure to various practical issues in Wireless Communication like CDMA and TDAM technologies, Radio Resource Management for the 4th Generation Cellular Networks, Wireless Sensors and International Telecommunications Union (ITU) etc.
