Mrs. Sakshi Pahuja, Associate Professor from Electronics & Communication Engineering Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended a five-day Short Term Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Image Processing, Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition” conducted National Institute of Technology, New Delhi from 18th to 22nd June, 2013. The primary goal of this program was to bring together researchers working in the broad areas of Computer Vision, Graphics, Image Processing, Pattern Recognition and related fields to promote community-wide discussion of ideas that could influence and foster continued research in the appropriate fields.

Inaugurating the program Prof. D. K. Bandyopadhyay, Vice- Chancellor of GGSIP, New Delhi expressed that the technologies like Image Processing and Computer vision have triggered much of the research which led to in-depth study of Pattern Recognition. He also shared the latest theories and technical advancements in Computational Intelligence, Texture Synthesis and Analysis, Interactive image processing, Biometrics, 3D Shape and Structure Analysis, Video Surveillance and Monitoring etc which are grabbing the attention of researchers owing to their application in almost all walks of life. He motivated the participants to take full advantage of FDP and incorporate all new ideas into their research work.

The eminent speakers Prof. (Dr.) O. P. Verma from Delhi Technical University, Prof. V. Gadre from IIT, Bombay, Prof. Prem Kalra from IIT, Delhi, Prof. Sumeet Aggarwal from IIT, Delhi, Prof. Naveen Rajpal from IPU, Delhi, Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Kumar from IIT, Roorkee, Prof. (Dr.) Balasubramanian from IIT, Roorkee also enlightened the participants on various topics like Image and Video Retrieval, Motion analysis and object tracking, Multi-view scene analysis, Pattern Analysis and Classification, Machine Learning, Performance Evaluation, Emerging Applications of biomedical imaging, Industrial Vision Systems, Digital Heritage etc.

The programme was interactive and useful as all the professors shared their experience and research work in the field of image processing, computer vision and pattern recognition. The program ended with a valedictory session headed Prof. Suresh Prasad (Ex Director, IIT Delhi).
