WORKSHOP ON “COMSOL MULTIPHYSICS”

On 4th September 2013, the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon, organized a one- day workshop on “COMSOL MULTIPHYSICS” with an objective to train the students in project fabrication using COSMOL software.

Inaugurating the workshop Hon’ble Principal Prof. (Dr.) M.N. Hussain said that COMSOL Multiphysics is software based on advanced numerical methods for modeling and simulating physics related problems. With this software one can easily extend conventional models of general physics into multiphysics. Further, he expressed that valuable features of COMSOL Multiphysics include the graphical user interface, the tools for creating the geometry and internal boundaries and domains, automatic mesh generation and refinement, the ability to solve different equations on different meshes , the parametric solver etc.

The distinguished speakers Mr. Shantanu Singh, Technical Sales Engineer, COMSOL India and Mr. Lakhvinder Singh, Applications Engineer, COMSOL India disseminated the theoretical as well as practical concepts and applications of COSMOL Software. They explained that COMSOL Multiphysics is relatively easy to use for quite complicated problems that allows the students to perform meaningful simulations beyond their textbook examples, challenge their creativity, and improve their problem-solving skills.

Mr. Shantanu Singh told how to discover the software's capabilities, functionalities, and features. He told about the steps to learn the fundamental modeling steps needed to simulate various applications. Mr. Lakhvinder Singh introduced the participants about the graphical user interface and its model builder, allowing efficient use and adaptation of the COMSOL models. He also gave a demo to experience the speed and ease of the work- flow through multiphysics simulation.

During the hands-on session, the participants were briefed to set up and solve their first simulation through different exercises wherein they installed the COMSOL software in their respective laptops and applied COSMOL software in a number of areas.

Over 200 students from various branches (ME, CSE, IT and ECE) of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon were benefitted through this workshop.
