Mr. Tanvir Singh, Assistant Professor from Mechanical Engineering Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended a five-day workshop on “Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)” organised by Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh, from 31st August to 4th September 2013 under DST Purse and TEQIP-II Scheme.

The objective of this workshop was to discuss different topics of Computational Fluid Dynamics like Incompressible flows, Eulerian and Lagrangian descriptions of fluid motion; Flow in Industrial machines, Compressible flows, Kinematics of fluid motion. Derivation of governing differential equations and their Non-dimensionalization; Sub-models for simplified situations; some analytical solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations etc.

The distinguished scholars across the nation, Mr. Abdus Samad, Department of Ocean Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai; Prof. M. Faisal S. Baig, Department of Mechanical Engineering, ZHCET, AMU Aligarh; Mr. Sawan Suman, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Patna, Bihar and Mr. Syed Fahad Anwer, Department of Mechanical Engineering, ZHCET, AMU Aligarh enlightened the participants on various issues related to CFD.They also explained how to monitor convergence using force and surface monitors, and demonstrated the use of several post processing tools to examine the flow phenomena associated with a shock wave.

The workshop was beneficial for the participants as they enhanced their knowledge in the areas of Turbo-machinery, Aerodynamics, and Fluid mechanics etc. The workshops concluded with a valedictory session where certificates were distributed to all the participants.
