On 23rd October 2013, Mechanical Engineering Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organised a Competitive Workshop on “Scrapheap Challenge” with an objective to evaluate the innovative talent of the participants in designing various technical models.

The competition was judged by the Hon’ble Principal Prof. (Dr.) M.N. Hussain and Head of Department (ME) Prof. S. K. Bagga. The competition was divided into two rounds. A total of 42 teams participated out of which 8 teams qualified for the final round. Models like Water rocket, Windmill, Ship cum aircraft, Suspension System for off roads, Hydroelectric Generators etc were presented by the students.

The working model Water Rocket designed by Abhimanyu, Gourav, Devesh and Kuldeep from ME V sem won the First Prize. The Second prize was achieved by the model Energy Efficiency and Emergency Energy by Vivek, Vikas,Vipin and Vikas from ME III Sem.The model Amphibious Electric Vehicle designed by Saurabh Khurana, Saurabh Kumar, Tarun and Tejasvi from ME VII Sem got third prize.

The program concluded with a Prize distribution session in which 1st, 2nd and 3rd position winners were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 5000/-, Rs. 3000/- and Rs. 2000/- respectively by Prof. S. K. Bagga. Certificate of participation were given to all the participants.
