NATIONAL SEMINAR ON “BUILDING CAPACITIES OF MSMEs THROUGH INNOVATION”

 

Mr. Vijay Wakhlu, Associate Professor from the department of Mechanical Engineering represented Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon in the National Seminar on “Building Capacities of MSMEs (Micro Small Medium Enterprises) through Innovation” was organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industries on 30th July, 2013 at PHD House, New Delhi under the programme “Innovation Sumit 2013”. The seminar was aimed at innovations in MSMEs considering current possibilities, limitations and means to adopt it for welfare of society.

 

The seminar started with a welcome address by Shri Suman Jyoti, President, PHD Chamber which was followed by a presentation on Innovation by Mr. Salil Bhandari, Chairman, Committee. A number of distinguished speakers from different areas Mr. M. K. Maini, Mr. H. K. Mittal, Mr. Ashish Panigrahi, Mr. Chandermouli Guin, Mr. K. Kapur, Mr. Vasudevan, Mr. Diwakar Bhagat, Mr. B. Biswal. Mr. M . Sabarwal, Dr. Jyoti S. A. Bhat , Mr. Rajveer Singh, Mr. Rajive Chawla, Ms. Divya Rajput enlightened the participants on innovations & creativity, teaching-learning methodologies and other relevant pedagogical patterns relevant to colleges and industry. They also stated the importance of active learning sessions and technological improvements.

 

Mr. H. K. Mittal, Secretary, Technology Development Board, Govt. of India shared the instances of a few organisations like UJALA and vaccine manufacturer in Hyderabad who have been innovative in their operations although they were helped by Technology Development Board.

 

Mr. Ashish Panigrahi and Mr. Chandermouli Guin who represented M/s Nielsen, PHD’s Research Partner, released a research report for MSMEs and summarised the constraints including affordability for these enterprises to be innovative. Mr. Vasudevan, Chief-Adviser (Tech. and Research) Albion Info Tel India, Mr. K. Kapur Director SIDBI, Mr. Rajveer Singh CEO Apex Cluster Development Services Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Rakesh Pandey, Director Sales Consulting Oracle talked about the importance of the use of Information and Communication Technology in MSMEs. Mr. Diwakar Bhagat (Structural Consultant working for PhD) informed that Civil Engg Deptt. Of IIT Delhi is developing Structural columns and beams made from Bamboo as an alternative for RCC.

 

Mr. A. K. Jha Director General, Ministry of MSME, Dr. Jyoti S. A. Bhat Scientist, Ministry of Science and Tech., Govt of India, Ms. Divya Rajput Head, Centre for Business Innovation and IT,Govt of India put forward the efforts made to assist MSMEs in business modelling, co-branding, annual credit rating etc.

 

Mr. B. Biswal, faculty from Delhi University talked about the Cluster Innovation Centre started by Delhi University two years ago. Mr. M Sabarwal Head, Enterprise and Portfolio Management Informed about IPR. Mr. Rajive Chawla, President MSMEs Faridabad, explained various measures taken by them to face the competition from larger companies and to innovate as a group, share expenses and provide services to all member units.
