COMPUTER HACKING PUBLIC LECTURE & WORKSHOP AT IIT DELHI

 
 

On 7th March 2014, seven students Akshit Chauhan (Roll No. 15007), Deepak Chandel (Roll No. 15024), Kamal Kathuria (Roll No.15041), Ashish Chauhan (Roll No, 15016), Sahil Jindal (Roll No, 15089), Vikas Verma (Roll No. 15116), and Vinay (Roll No 15117), from CSE Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended a workshop and lecture delivered by the computing experts from Sheffield Hallam University, UK at IIT Delhi.

During the public lecture session the speaker Mr. Neil Richardson talked about the basic hacking methods and the big companies that were hacked recently, in which, many multinational and anti-virus companies were named.

In the workshop Mr. Stephen Lofthouse and Mr. Neil Richardson from Sheffield Hallam University, UK highlighted the current challenges faced by computer security professionals. They were basically focused on finding vulnerabilities in windows and linux operating system and then hacking into own computer as a experiment. They also elaborated NIDS (Network Intrusion Detection System), zero (0)-day, metasploit, linux ,botnets and the world of malicious people who can steal your personal information to have fun and sometimes to pay bills from your credit card and many much more disastrous things.

All participants with interest in Metasploit, Windows vulnerability, Information Security and Linux enhanced their knowledge. The workshop was informative and useful as the participants learnt about hacking world and information security.
