A ONE-DAY WORKSHOP ON GIRLS IN ICT DAY

 
 

On 9th January 2014, a group of ten students along with Ms. Maneela Tuteja, Assistant Professor from Information Technology Department and Ms. Himanshi, Assistant Professor from CSE Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended aone- day workshop on “Girls in ICT day” organisedby Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women, University Of Delhi, Delhi.

The main objective of the workshop was to provide the platform to encourage the young girls to have an interaction with successful women in IT sectors. It also served as a resource to change and lower the inhibition about “Technology is manly” attitude.

The workshop was inaugurated by the Chief- Guest Ms. Padmavati Viswanathan, Scientist G, Head of Computing Technology Testing And Social Development, National Informatics Centre, Department of Electronics & Information Technology, Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, New Delhi in the august presence of theGuest of Honor Dr. Niloufer Shroff, Scientist G Head of Division, Photonics Development Division, Electronics Niketan, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Delhi.

The distinguished academicians Prof. Enakshi K. Sharma Professor, Department of Electronic Science, University of Delhi, New Delhi; Prof. Divya Saksena Professor, Department of English, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Shiv Nadar University; Ms. Anuradha Sharma Program Manager-Social Innovation Group at Cisco Systems, India; Ms. Aroma Sengupta, Consultant at Computer Emergency Response Team (India), Ms. Diksha Mishra Enterprise Technical/ Solution Consultant, Adobe System. She is handling aeCommerce based tool called Scene7; Dr. S. Lakshmi Devi, Principal & Hony. Director, (CECOP) University of Delhi; Dr. Amita Kapoor, Course Co-ordinator, Cisco Academy SRCASW shared their views on technical education system, sustainable development, management skills, entrepreneurship development, e-content generation etc.

The workshop was organized in collaboration with CISCO in which more than thousand adolescent girls and women were benefitted as they grasped the concepts related to ICT.
