A ONE- DAY INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO THE CENTRE FOR E-GOVERNANCE

 
 

On 26th February 2014, a group of thirty students along with faculty coordinator Mr. Hansraj Yadav, Assistant Professor from Computer Science and Engineering Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon visited to Centre For e-Governance, Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) Electronics Niketan, 6 CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.

The objective of this visit was how to develop an open source cyber security tool kit for home users, school children and housewives and how to provide cyber security and Ethics curricula and explore opportunities for introducing awareness content.

The Centre has been envisaged as the platform for showcasing advancement in ICT domain especially in e-Governance by demonstrating applications from states, central line ministries, DeitY organizations and other implementing agencies. In addition, it is meant to be a staging platform for cutting edge and emerging technology areas that are part of DeitY mandate and are of relevance to other ICT domain including electronics, Indian Language Solutions, emerging technologies in ICT domains and solutions for different centres.

Mr. Sunil Kumar, Technical Officer, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) addressed to the students and discussed about "The NeGP Vision" with students. The NeGP Vision is "Make all Public Services accessible to the common man in his locality, through common services delivery outlets and ensure efficiency, transparency and affordable costs to realize the basic needs of the common man".

He also shared the technical aspects of all 31 Mission Mode Projects (MMPs) being implemented at the Central, State and Local Government Level Project like Banking, Insurance, Income Tax, Passport, Central Excise, MAC 21, Pensions, e-Office (Pilot), National ID/UID, Immigration / Visa, Posts, CSC, e-courts, EDI, e-Procurement, and e-Biz.

The visit was informative and useful to the students as they learnt about current projects related to Cyber Security and Ethics.
