PHOTONICS

Dyal Singh College organized a workshop on “Photonics and other areas in Physics” on Monday 18.02.2013 in its college auditorium. It was in collaboration with National Academy of Science, India-Delhi Chapter. The following seven students from Dronacharya College of Engineering of ECE Department participated in various competitions that were held during the workshop.

The program started with the Inaugural lecture by Prof. A.K. Ghatak on “FIBRE OPTICS” at 10am. After that there was a competition of power point presentation wherein students from various colleges participated. Surabhi Abbi from our college gave a presentation on OLED (ORGANIC LIGHT EMITTING DIODE) and she won the IIIrd prize.

In the afternoon session, a physics poster session was organized in which our two students Shivani Gupta and Poonam participated and exhibited posters on NEMS (NANO ELECTRO MECHANICAL SYSTEM) and won IIIrd prize. The competition was followed by a lecture by Prof. K. Thyagarajan from IIT Delhi on Photonics.

There after a Physics quiz competition was organized in which our three students Sonal Aggarwal, Neha and Aman Jain participated. The function ended with prize distribution. The prizes were awarded by the president Dr. Vinod Sharma of NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCE INDIA- Delhi chapter.

The students were asked to collect the certificates for participation after 2/3 days.
