Presenting his views, the guest-speaker Mr. V. K. Arya expressed that wireless communication is the transfer of information over a distance without the use of electrical conductors. It is generally considered to be a branch of communications. It encompasses various types of fixed, mobile, and portable two-way radios, cellular telephones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and wireless networking. As an expert, he also provided a perspective of the research frontiers of wireless and mobile communications, identifying early stage key technologies of strategic importance and the new applications. He discussed specific new radio technologies including dynamic spectrum access (DSA), white space, cognitive software-defined radio (SDR), antenna beam steering and multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) etc. |
