EDUCATIONAL TRIP TO “TERI- THE ENERGY AND RESOURCES INSTITUTE”

Paryavaran Club of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized a one-day educational trip to “TERI- The Energy and Resources Institute” on 11th March 2013. A group of 50 students associated with the club visited TERI at Gaulahri, Gurgaon alongwith Prof. (Dr.) K. K. Jha, Dr. Sangeeta Negi, and Ms. Sangeeta Singla faculty members of the Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities .

The objective of this visit was to make the students well conversant with the concept behind Solar water heaters, Photovoltaic panels, Gasifier, Underground earth tunnels, Absorption chillers, Energy-efficient lighting, Waste-water recycling etc.

Addressing a group of Dronacharyans, Hon’ble Chairman TERI, Gurgaon Dr. R. K. Pachauri highlighted the environmental pollution in India and participation of intellectuals to maintain a balance in the atmosphere. Further, he stressed that various technological innovations are needed to upgrade the methodology so that a pollution free earth and ecosystem could be maintained.

The students also were explained the mechanism of solar power plant, a Gasifier power plant, rain and waste water management etc. The trip to TERI was highly educative, interesting and full of practical insights in the field of renewable energy.
