ISTE WORKSHOP ON “GREEN BUILDING”
 

On 24th August 2013, the ISTE Workshop on “Green Building” was conducted at the Remote Centre Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon as a part of the National Mission on Education through ICT, supported by Ministry of Human Resources & Development, Govt. of India, New Delhi. The objective of this workshop was to enhance the professional & Technical skills offaculty members & students under the project titled "Empowerment of Students & Teachersthrough Synchronous & Asynchronous Instruction”.

 

This workshop was transmitted live, and wasconducted at more than 200 remote centers across the country, through synchronous distance mode, along with the interaction of participants. The video, presentations, and downloads offered here will help students, faculty and working professionals. More than 10000 students & Faculty members across India had registered for this workshop.

 

The workshop was started by the introductory session by Prof. Monika Jain of IITB Mumbai followed by Prof. Jatin Prajapati’s talk in Context sensitive Approach to sustainable Building Design. Prof. J. K. Nayak of IITB Mumbai shared his views about “Thermal Performance of Building”. He also shared his views about various award winning buildings architectures.

 

Another expert from Academy of architecture, Prof. Swati Chokshi disseminated knowledge on the journey of sustainability - the Indian vernacular and beyond. Prof. Ranjan Banarjee enlightened the audience with his views on Renewable energy options for building.

 

The Team Shunya of IITB Mumbai, shared information about their project which has been shortlisted for the final round of the Project competition on Green Building, scheduled to be held in the USA. Over 400 candidates including all HODs of various departments, Faculty members & Students of various branches enthusiastically attended this workshop.

 

The workshop was beneficial to all the attendeesas they gotan opportunity to interact with the teaching fraternity of IITB Mumbai and academy of architecture. Various theoretical concepts were discussed with a practical approach focusing on their real world implications rather than just theory. All the videos/presentation/materials of the workshop were made available to the participants.

 

At the end of the workshop, Prof. (Dr.) Jitender Kumar, the Remote Centre Coordinator thanked IITB Mumbai for such a wonderful and informative workshop.
