The trainer Mr. Kelvin introduced the idea of building a robot to the participants. He briefed the participants that building robots involved the development of a wide range of skills, including creative thinking, design, mechanics, electronics and programming, all of which are highly valued in industry. He also told that rapid advances were being made in robotic control systems, artificial intelligence, neural networks, and in the miniaturization, sophistication and reliability of electronic circuitry, sensors and actuators. Robots currently under development may become widely used in the food, clothing, nuclear and offshore industries, healthcare, farming, transportation, mining and defense. |
