INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO CENTRE FOR E-GOVERNANCE, NEW DELHI
 

On 27th March 2014, a group of twenty four students from Information Technology Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon visited to Centre For e-Governance, Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) Electronics Niketan, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.

 

The purpose of this Industrial visit was to introduce students with various e-Governance projects initiatives taken by Government of India under the collaboration of CDAC, National Informatics Center, Media Lab Asia etc.

 

The Center of e-Governance (CeG) showcased applications, demonstrations and presentations that reflect the progress achieved in the implementation and usage of e-Governance. It covers successful and high impact e-Gov applications and content based on improved citizen service delivery, innovativeness, cost effectiveness and overall impact in fulfilling developmental objectives of the government. It also showcases various social sector initiatives relating to health and education.

 

The Centre for e-Governance therefore provided a unique platform for wider dissemination of awareness regarding successful e-Governance initiatives in the country as well as the roadmap for implementation of e-Governance. CeG would also undertake hosting of important Seminars/ Conferences and other similar awareness programs to reach out to the common man. The CeG is a part of the “Awareness and Communication” activity under National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) and seeks to bring the achievements under NeGP under one umbrella for the information of the citizens.

 

Mr. Sunil Kumar, Technical Officer, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) addressed to the students and discussed about National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) plan. The National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), takes a holistic view of e-Governance initiatives across the country, integrating them into a collective vision, a shared cause. The ultimate objective of NeGP is to bring public services closer home to citizens.

 

He also discussed about all the 31 mission mode projects (MMPs), which are implemented by Central Government, State government and both. The various projects implemented by central Government are Banking, Central Excise & Customs, Income Tax (IT),Insurance, Passport, Pension, etc. Various State level projects are Agriculture, Commercial Taxes, e-District, Land Records(NLRMP), Municipalities, e-Panchayats, Road Transport, PDS, Education and Health. Various projects implemented in collaboration with Central Government and State Government are CSC, e-Biz, e-Courts, e-Procurement and India Portal etc.

 

Mr. Sunil Kumar also conducted an online quiz at the end of the demonstration of e-governance projects. Ms. Stuti Garg (Roll No.14502) received the First Prize, Ms. Shailja Yadav (Roll No. 14488) received the Second Prize and Mr. Nayan Kr. Singh (Roll No.14453) received the Third Prize in quiz competition.

 

The visit was informative and useful to the students as they learnt about various e-Governance projects developed under Government of India.
