The biggest challenge in India’s growth is the shortage of skilled employees across industries. The need of the industry, today, is skill-ready employees from day one of their jobs. In such a scenario, it has become imperative to have an innovative, competent and talented work force that meets the industry standards.

Each year over one million graduates are added to the Indian work force. However, of these only a handful of graduates manage to acquire a job. The Indian Education System does not make students skill-ready employees. Hence the students churned out are not equipped to meet the current industry requirements. The threat of severe shortage of trained, skilled and knowledgeable workers is haunting India.

There is an urgent need to wake up to this mismatch between skills and jobs. Industry-academic tie-ups are a novel form of bridging the gap between the job requirement and the training imparted at educational institutions. Huawei has understood this shortage of skilled manpower in India. To mitigate this gap, Huawei has introduced a series of training programs designed for the students of Dronacharya College of Engineering skill-ready employees to face the today’s industrial challenges. 53 students of various branches have been shortlisted by Huewei to attend a Six-week Industrial Program starting from 25th June, 2014. This initiative of Huawei aims to transform these budding engineers into world class professionals.
