HOD's Desk

“It is important to remember that educational software, like textbooks, is only one tool in the learning process. Neither can be a substitute for well-trained teachers, leadership, and parental involvement.”

Electronics and Computing Engineering is a course that aims to integrate two separate engineering fields to meet the joint demands made by the electronics and computer industries in today's world. Technology runs the planet, with computers and electronics playing an essential role in many types of technologies. It is truly a digital world, and those who understand this world can become valuable additions to technology-focused employers. From the laptops and smart phones that we use to the planes that we fly, everything in modern life involves electronics and computers in some way or the other.

So if you would like to shape the way people live, work and play, then Electronics & Computer Engineering (ECS) is for you! and if you like to take things apart just so you can see how they function, you could be the kind of student who would feel at home studying Electronics and Computer Engineering at Dronacharya College of Engineering(DCE),Gurgaon.

This four years B.Tech program not only teaches certain circuits, systems and specialized techniques used in electronics and computer technology career fields but it also exposes students to a combination of classroom theory and practical application in a laboratory environment. Keeping the fast growing need of computer linked electronic advancement in ever-changing world in mind, DCE, Gurgaon started the ECS department in the year 2011.

The department, though, has entered only in its third year currently but the enthusiasm shown by the students has got laurels for the department and the institution. Being shortlisted in top teams worldwide in Intel perceptual computing challenge and engraving innovative idea in Top 50 in the National Youth Ideas Challenge on Entrepreneurship across India organized by ISEED - The Indian School for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development are just a few to mention.  Our student winners of the zonal round of ROBO-ZEST’ 14, which is a Robotics Workshop cum Championship series, participated in the technical fest of IIT Bombay named as AAKAAR ’14. The department also looks after the Indian Society for Technical Education activities in the college. The Chapter level, Zonal level and National level examinations of Sri Ramanujan Mathematical Competition 2013, organized by ISTE was hosted by the college.

The department leaves no stone unturned to motivate students in participating in all curricular and co curricular activities in and out of the college campus because we firmly believe in the words of Jennifer Fleming:

“Teaching in the Internet age means we must teach tomorrow’s skills today.”
