Two students Gaurav Verma (Roll No. 15709) and Anoop (Roll No. 16765) from ECS Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended a two-day workshop “Robotics” organized by GD Goenka University, Haryana in association with Park Lab and Techniche, IIT Guwahati from 30th to 31st January 2014.

On the first day of this workshop the participants were introduced to basic components required to implement a robotics system like Industrial automation using robotics, Basic electronics, Types of motor, Motor controlling circuits, Types of IC’s used in robotics, Embedded Language and, Microcontroller ATmega8 etc. Second day was composed of practical knowledge about various sensors, motors, microprocessor ATMEGA8 and related systems present on the circuit board given to students as a kit.

The participants first practiced to code in embedded C language to control for LED on circuit board. Then they learnt the basics of connecting Infra-red (IR) light sensors to detect as proximity sensor which was further used to make advanced level robots.

Students from other colleges and universities like GD Goenka University, GD Goenka World Institute (Lancaster University, UK), Amity University (Manesar, Gurgaon), and Shiv Nadar University (U.P) also attended the workshop.

The workshop was useful and interesting as the students experimented with various configurations of robots to turn them smartly.
