A group of 144 students from Civil Engineering Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon visited TERI- The Energy and Resources Institute Gurgaon on 26th September 2013. They were accompanied by Prof. Meeta Verma, HoD, (Civil Engineering Department) and the faculty members Mrs. Lekshmi S.R. and Ms. Sakshi Gupta. The objective of this visit was to create awareness for environmental sustainability among students.

Mr. Amit Kumar Thakur, Sr. Manager, Technology Department; Mr. Vinay Pathak, Manager (HR) and Mr. Sameer Sethi, Deputy Manager, Retreat, coordinated with the students during the visit and explained various concepts related to Environment. During the visit the students were focused on Solar panels, Underground Earth Air-Tunnels, Biomass gasifier, Micro-propagation Technology Park and Waste water management etc.

The visit was useful as the students learnt how the temperature can remain even throughout the year with the use of effective insulation, shade provided by trees and a network of underground earth air tunnels; functions of biomass gasifier, recycling process etc.
