ISPACE-2013

A two- day International Conference on Civil Engineering (iSPACE-2013), was held at ITM University, Gurgaon on March 4th-5th, 2013. It was inaugurated by Prof. Bruce Seely, Dean, Michigan Technological University, USA. Inaugurating the seminar, Prof. Seely stressed the need for Civil Engineers to take care of culture and history of people in developing the infrastructure. The objective of this seminar was to provide a common platform for academicians, researchers and other experts in the field of Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Geotechnical engineering, Geotechnical engineering, Environmental engineering etc.

Dr. R.C. Sharma, Professor, Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities at Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon presented a paper entitled “Trends Analysis of Atmospheric CO2 and CH4 and Their Impact on Climate Change” in the conference.

Other distinguished speakers Dr. Chandan Ghosh, National Institute of Disaster Management, shared his views on the topic “Climate Change Disaster Management” and Prof. S. K. Kaushik, Fellow, INAE, enlightened the audience on the topic “ Non-destructive testing of concrete”. Dr. Vasanth Havanagi, Scientist, CRRI, Delhi; Dr. Anil Kumar Lohani, National Institute of Hydrology Roorkee; Prof. Kalaga Ramachandra Rao, IIT Delhi; Prof. F.B. Frechen, Department of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering, University of Kassel, Germany; Dr. P.K. Bhargava, Chief Scientist & Head, Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee; Prof. S. K. Kaushik, Fellow, INAE also exchanged their views on different aspects of climate change and civil engineering.

The conference was highly innovative, application oriented and knowledge based covering the fields of environment, climate change, disaster management, road and transportation safety, energy efficiencies in buildings, GIS and remote sensing techniques in civil engineering etc.
