On 16th August 2013, the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized a one-day workshop on “Ethical Hacking” in association with i3indiya Technologies and Student Chapter of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE).

An expert from i3indiya Technologies, well known as Mr. OoPpSs (Real name not disclosed) started with the introduction to the Event Tagline “Being Updated is The Key For Staying Secure in The World of Technology.” He also shared some of his solved cases to let the participants know of how people become victims of hackers almost every day while accessing Face book, Twitter etc. (social networking sites),Online Banking, Email id’s, etc. Through an interactive case study session he brought some real world cases from RAW, ISI etc. He explained the Indian Cyber Laws particularly section 94 (IT Act 2000), Sections 66-C & 66-D (IT Act 2008) which have the provisions of imprisonment if hacking is done without permission or for wrong intensions.

He introduced to the Windows Architecture and advised to setup BIOS password for enhancing the security features in genuine windows. He threw light on how to break into admin panel to change the settings. He emphatically stated that being update is best way to secure yourself from being victim of hackers.

Total 350 students from various branches (ECS, CSE, IT, ECE & Civil) of our college and from other colleges like GITM Bilaspur, Ansal University, Manav Rachna International University etc. participated in the workshop.

Hon’ble Principal Prof. (Dr.) Mir Nasser Hussain presented the memento to the Guest Speaker and distributed certificates to the participants. The Event organizer Mr. Anshul Patro a student of V semester delivered a vote of thanks and expressed his gratitude to the Guest speaker, participants and HOD Prof. Swati Jha for extending cooperation in making the workshop successful.
