INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO PANASONIC INDIA PVT. LTD.

The ECE department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized an Industrial visit to Jhajjar plant of Panasonic India Pvt. Ltd. on 22nd April 2016. 39 Students of ECE and 8 students of EEE department accompanied by two faculty members, Ms. Seema and Ms. Sanghamitra V. Arora visited the company.

 
Panasonic Corporation is a worldwide leader in the development and manufacture of electronic products for a wide range of consumer, business, and industrial needs. Panasonic commenced its operations in India in the year 1972 and has shown a 200 percent growth in the past three years.
 

The team reached Panasonic India Pvt. Ltd. at 10:45 A.M. On arrival, the team was welcomed by Mr. Sumit Singh, HR Manager and safety precautions were briefed to the students. Mr. Singh gave a brief introduction about the company profile. After the introductory speech, the team was divided into two groups with one Industry executive with each group. They coordinated the team’s visit to three sections - Manufacturing, Waste storage and administration of the company.

 

Manufacturing Plant for Air Conditioners had 3 assembly lines; 2 Outdoor Unit Assembly line, 1 Indoor Unit Assembly line. The process of making of an Air Conditioner was divided into several sections like Component Section, Heat Exchanger Unit, in section Moulding and Quality Test. The students got to learn about the various processes involved in the making and also learnt the basic terminology of the process. It gave them a brief idea of work and knowledge required in this field and gave them an opportunity to interact with Engineers who cleared their doubts and gave them a clear picture of the whole manufacturing Unit.

 

The plant had two waste water treatment plants namely; Effluent treatment plant or ETP used for treatment of commercial waste water treatment and Sewage Treatment Plant or STP which treated the domestic waste water. Total of 27 kL of water is treated daily by Panasonic for their use and for green belt purpose. The engineers taught the process behind the treatment of water along with its further uses apart from commercial and domestic use.

 

The visit was concluded at the showroom where latest products of Panasonic were shown to the students which was followed by refreshments. The team thanked Mr. Sumit Singh for excellent conduct of the visit.

The visit to Panasonic was an enriching experience. Along with exposure it also gave students the opportunity to learn from the professionals. It also gave an opportunity to some students to analyse the skill set required to work in such environment.
