On 28th November 2013, Electronics and Communication Engineering Departmentof Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized a one-day workshop on Industrial Automation. The workshop was conducted by ICONA Pvt. Ltd. Noida for ECE and EEE students.

 The workshop was mainly focused on use of Programmable Logic Control (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) which are widely used technologies in the industries.

During the first session the basic background of PLC, HMI and SCADA was explained. “Ladder Logic” programming technique used in designing the logic for PLC scheme was also elucidated in detail. In the second session practical implementation of PLC in Automation Field was demonstrated.   Besides this “Automated Water Level Controller” and “Metal Detector Counter” were also dealt with their applications.

The workshop was very interactive as students also shared their views about the uses and importance of PLC.
