Seminar on Engineering Education and Research

Conducted by

National Instruments

A Seminar on Engineering Education and Research was organized by National Instruments (NI) at Hotel Radisson Blu, Greater Noida on 31st October’15.

Four Faculty members, Ms. Charu Jain (EEE), Ms. Priyanka Mahani (ECS), Ms. Preeti Sharma (IT), Mr. Krishanu Kundu,(CSE) from Dronacharya College of Engineering , Gurgaon attended the Seminar.

The Seminar began with an Introduction about the World Skills Competition given by members of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). They emphasized upon the importance of Skill Development and its need. Experts explained the complete procedure for participating in the competition to be held in Abu Dhabi from 14th - 17th Oct’17.

Mr. Nihal from NSDC then threw light on the various skills that have competed in the previous years ranging from cooking to hacking and many more.

Mr. Karunalong with his team from National Instruments then explained about their 2 major products - LAB VIEW and MyRio.

The highlights of the event were:

1. Introduction to NI LabVIEW - the graphical programming language used extensively by engineers and scientists for system design

2. Introduction to National Instruments Data Acquisition hardware platforms

3. Complete step-by-step demo-oriented approach to building an integrated, multi-sensor measurement system Project consultation with our technical expert

4. Role of Software defined hardware tools in research and teaching

5. Exploring Signal Processing & LTI Systems using LabVIEW - Sampling & Reconstruction, Aliasing, FFT, Windowing, Digital Filter Design, etc

6. An integrated approach to teach circuits: Theory > Simulation > Implementation > PCB .

They also threw light on various hardware units like: DAQ, CDAQ, Compact RIO and many more. Emphasis was also on how MATLAB can be easily embedded with LabView. The Participants were elaborated by the NI experts on Multisim. Multisim Simulation and circuit design capabilities to optimize performance, reduce design errors and shorten time to prototype, Intuitive NI tools result in saved printed circuit board (PCB) iterations and significant cost savings in Control Systems, Mechatronics & Robotics application areas, System Identification, PID Control, Autonomous Robots, Robotic Manipulators, Machine Vision, etc.

The program ended with the Certificate Distribution Ceremony.

It was overall a very informative and knowledgeable.
