Industrial Visit to V R ENGINEERS

4th August 2016

ISTE Student Chapter, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized an industrial visit to V R Engineers, Gurgaon, on 4th August 2016. Mrs. Poonam Yadav, ECS Dept. along with 25 students from ECS, ECE & EEE visited the company. The visit was organized with the aim of providing the students a brief understanding of automation and various machinery processes in factories.

V R Engineers is a unique initiative from automation industry professionals to prepare the youth for a career in the Automation industry by providing focused and industry specific skill enhancement training. The mission of the company is to improve the quality and skills of young graduates which will make them confident, determined and enthusiastic for a successful career in manufacturing.

The College team was welcomed by Mr. Manish Sharma, Managing Diector, V R Engineers. In the beginning an audio-visual presentation of the automation growth in the world was given. Mr. Vikas Verma, Engineer gave a brief demonstration to the students about the types of automation and their applications in the real world. Mr. Rahul Singh, Engineer discussed some concepts like Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Relay, Miniature Circuit Breaker, Human Machine Interface, Constant Transformer.

Students were divided in two groups after the presentation and they visited the manufacturing units and R&D labs. Mr. Kulshandra, Engineer elaborated the process of designing of Printed Circuit Board, PCB used to connect electronic components. Then he briefed students about the components used to make PCB including Metal Core PCB’s with their applications and discussed the two types of machines which were used to place the components on PCB board. He also discussed the six levels of integration including PCB Design, PCB Fabrication, PCB assembly, Testing and Programming, Cable Assembly and Box Builds. Mr. Shubham, Engineer discussed the working of the Programmable Logic Controller, (PLC) that it is a digital computer used for automation in industrial electromechanical processes. PLCs are designed for multiple arrangements of digital and analog inputs and outputs, extended temperature ranges, immunity to electrical noise, and resistance to vibration and impact.

During the visit, they also displayed some projects to enhance the practical learning of the students. Railway Project was one among the project which was displayed. The project was about the automatic opening and closing of the railway crossing. If the train is coming then the crossing will be closed and when the train passed then the crossing will be open. It uses the IR sensor to detect the presence of the train which is placed few kilometers before the crossing. Another was Lift Project in which simple relay method is used. The lift has an IR sensor detector at the top and the lift can go on one floor at a time. This is an efficient project that can be used in various organizations.

The visit was very educative for the students as they learnt to apply their theoretical knowledge into practical applications with industry standards and got the opportunity of live demonstrations of electronic manufacturing industry.
