Prof. Mangla Sunder Krishan shared that virtual labs provide complete learning mechanism. He discussed about three types of virtual labs, Remote Triggered, Measurement based and Modeling/ Simulation based. She also introduced the audience to NPTEL, which provides E-learning through online Web and Video courses in Engineering, Science and humanities streams. She demonstrated the online lecture content on NPTEL, and its usefulness in the classroom including well researched video lectures. Prof. Deepak Pathak said that teachers should not consider themselves as paid employees; teacher is a mentor who encourages the students to think, who challenges student’s mind. Prof. Ranjan Bose from IIT Delhi shared that the objective of establishing the Spoken Tutorial Resource Centre is to conduct Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) workshops on different courses like Linux, Latex, Scilab, Python, PHP - MySQL, Lotus, etc. at various colleges and schools, designed in a highly conducive way to self-learning. |
