Faculty Development Programme : Mission 10 X

   
 

At Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon, we make continuous efforts to enhance the capabilities and potential of our faculty. WIPRO, in its pursuit of fulfilling of social responsibility towards society, has taken an initiative named Mission 10X. This initiative aims at enhancing effectiveness of faculty ten times. This is being achieved through imparting better teaching skills / methods to faculty working in engineering colleges. DCE, in association with WIPRO, Bangaluru, having collaboration with Dale Carnegie University USA, organized a five day workshop as a part of Faculty Development Programme in the campus from 10-14 Jan 2011.

       

The workshop was inaugurated by Hon’ble Principal, Prof. (Dr.) B. M. K. Prasad on 10 January, 2011. Thirty one faculty members from various departments participated in the workshop. The aim of this workshop was to inculcate / enhance the teaching skills of faculty so that they become capable in imparting education to engineering students in such a way that their employability increases.

       

WIPRO team members comprising Mr. Aditya Sharma, Chief-Coordinator, Ms Gargi Sandilya, Ms. Kalpana Arora and Mrs. Gayatri made the participants well-skilled and result-oriented for the benefit of students. They also showed individual’s recording and suggested the area for further improvement. They effectively presented how our teachers and students can show their uniqueness; capitalize their strengths and talents; correlate their teaching-learning with daily routine examples or incidents. In this workshop, Gardner’s theory of “Multiple Intelligence” and Bloom’s “Taxonomy” were discussed in detail. The objective of this day was to bring out the intelligence of faculty members by ten times in class rooms. They discussed how to prepare and execute effective session plans with their supporting activities. All teachers practiced how to follow different methods of teaching in classroom to make the student understand the concepts of science and technology.

       

On 14th Jan 2011, Hon’ble Principal Prof (Dr.) B. M. K Prasad, DCE expressed his gratitude to all team members for their cooperation and hard work. He appreciated the initiatives taken by WIPRO team for making a valuable contribution and encouraging faculty members for planning and delivering of lectures effectively. He gave away certificates to all participants. The workshop ended with a vote of thanks by Prof (Dr.) Onkar Singh, Dean Academics of the college.
