A THREE - DAY SEMINAR ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CAMP

   
 

ED Cell of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized a three - day seminar on entrepreneurship from 7th September to 9th September 2011 in collaboration with Hardicon Ltd, New Delhi. The seminar was attended by faculty members and research scholars from different organisations.

       

The primary purpose of the program was to motivate students to create jobs for themselves and also to develop individuals from varied backgrounds, who have the courage to dream, the potential to make a difference, the ability to believe in themselves and the determination to convert their thoughts into action.

       

 The seminar was inaugurated by Hon’ble Principal Prof. B. M. K. Prasad. Addressing the participants, he emphasized on the significance of Entrepreneurship especially for young minds. The guest speaker Mr. Sunil Keswani from Hardicon Ltd., New Delhi  also addressed the students. He inspired the budding engineers and also shown the path to be positive and lively always. He also explained the concept of entrepreneurship, creativity and business. In order to make this celebration great success and a bit more interesting activity called BACK OF THE ENVELOPE was given to the students and was conducted by EDC CORE TEAM.

       

On the second day, Mr. S. K. Bhatt, a very experienced consultant shared a few real life examples of entrepreneurs, the problems they faced and how his consultancy provided them the solutions. Renowned faculty members from IIT, Mr. Raj Mehta and Mr. Deepan Sahu  made the participants familiar with the Technopreneur Promotion Programme (TePP) which is novel support mechanism designed to tap the innovative potential of entrepreneur and Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at IIT Delhi which has been nurturing innovation and transfer of technology through consultancy, development projects business incubation etc.

       

The third day commenced with the analysis of the Rs. 50 exercise by the EDC core team. All the students presented their presentations with zeal and enthusiasm. Thereafter, a summary of three day program was depicted in the form of a presentation. The ED Cell and its functioning at Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon was briefed upon by the Dean Academics Prof. (Dr.) Onkar Singh.

       

On the certificate - distribution ceremony, Hon’ble Principal Prof. B. M. K. Prasad addressed the budding entrepreneurs and participants. He categorically mentioned the facilities provided by the government of India to young and enthusiastic entrepreneurs. He inspired the students to take up new ventures as India is a developing economy and there is lots of scope for improvement. He even discussed the benefits, the society gets, if its young minds explore the opportunities around and open up new enterprises. On the same occasion the Principal distributed certificates for participation in august presence of Mr. R. K. Chopra from Hardicon Ltd., New Delhi, Mr. Sujit Bannerjee, Director DST, New Delhi. All HODs, Registrar and faculty members were also present on this occasion.

       

The winners were given away the prizes Rs. 3000; Rs. 2000 and Rs. 1000 for first three position holders in the exercises (Rs. 50 Exercise & Back of Envelope Exercise). In ”Rs. 50 Exercise,” the first position holder was Mr. Siddharth Kathuria, Mr. Abhay Singh Rathore and Ms. Monica Bansal got the second and third prizes respectively. Mr. Prateek Wadhwa, Mr. Abhay Singh Rathore and Mr. Saurabh Singh got the first, second and third prizes respectively in another exercise “ Back of Envelope”.

       

The seminar ended with a vote of thanks by Smt. Swati Jha, Coordinator of the camp. She expressed her heart - felt gratitude to the College Management, Hardicon Ltd., New Delhi, Participants and students for making the camp a great success.
