Twenty Eight students of VII Semester & Mrs. Sanghamitra V. Arora, Associate Professor Faculty from Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon visited Huawei Telecommunications India Co Pvt Ltd in Gurgaon on 10th Oct. 2014. Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. is a Chinese multinational networking and telecommunications equipment and services company headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong. It is the largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer in the world, having overtaken Ericsson in 2012. Huawei has over 70,000 product and solution R&D employees worldwide. They have set up 16 R&D centres in countries that include Germany, Sweden, the US, France, Italy, Russia, India, and China. To gain a distinct competitive edge in the future, they have set up the 2012 Laboratories, which function as the innovation, research, and technology development platform of the company. They focus on making continuous investments in key technologies, architectures, and standards in the ICT field. Huawei has also set up 28 joint innovation centres with leading carriers to translate leading technologies into a competitive edge and business success for customers.

There a brief introduction was given by Ms. Vandana about data, voice and video transmission through optical fiber and microwave and their particular role in the complete process of transmitting data end to end. Their complete module consisted of: 4G, Cloud computing, SDH, WDM Hierarchy and ICT. They showed us the hardware related to Cloud computing, MSC, BSC, 4G and related servers. They also gave a brief overview about how a call is conducted from end user. They introduced us to the various modules which maintain and control billing and authentication functions, location and roaming functions. Further they provided us with the explanation of SDH, GGSN, BG, CG and different Gateways. Detailed discussion about an emerging technology known as Cloud Computing was done under which it was shown how to access our data saved on our PC from any location. In the end, detailed course outline and relevant features of Huawei Certified ICT Graduate (HCIG) program was given.
