Industrial Visit To Yakult Milk Plant, Sonepat

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized an industrial visit to Yakult Danone India Pvt. Ltd. for forty students along with faculty members Ms. Priya Yadav and Mr. Sumit Kumar on 13th August 2015.

 

The main objective of the visit was to enhance general awareness about the importance of Probiotics and how to make the best usage of it. It also had the aim

1. To help students gain firsthand information regarding functioning of the company

2. To gain an insight of Yakult’s production process.

3. To correlate theoretical knowledge with real time practice of the company.

4. To provide an opportunity where corporate people share their expertise and experiences with the students to enable them to have the real feel of the current industrial scenario.

 

The visit began with the small introduction about Yakult. The presentation by the Company professional discussed the origin, milestones, journey and the global marketing of the product. He explained that the journey of Yakult Danone Pvt. Ltd. began in 1930 with Dr. Minoru Shirota, who conducted research in a microbiological lab at the Medical Faculty of Kyoto in Japan. He was the first person in the world to get success in it. The bacterium was named "Lactobacillus casei Shirota strain".

 

Ms. Reena, Executive-Public Relations gave a brief presentation about the Company’s product and its presence across the globe, distribution channel, turnover and strong research. Following the presentation, Ms. Reena interacted with the students and answered their queries regarding HR, marketing & operations aspects of the company. The students were then taken to the processing unit where all the stages from mixing of raw ingredients to the final shrink –packing were briefed. Students were amazed at the speed at which the process occurred and how the automated systems could be set according to requirements, as minimum of human intervention was required.

 

The Yakult products were distributed amongst the participants. The involvement and the discussion signified the great interest of the students in understanding the procedure. The importance of the R & D cell in judging the quality of the product attracted the students.
