One day industrial visit to National Physical Laboratory (NPL), Dr. K.S. Krishnan Road, New Delhi-110012 was organized by ECE Department. Mr. Sumit Kumar, Asst. Prof, accompanied a group of thirty students of V Sem ECE on the occasion of CSIR Foundation Day on 30th Sep 14.

The objective of this visit was to involve students in NPL research activity, where they got chance to meet experts of diverse fields, especially in micro/nano electronics. The guides for the visit at NPL were the dedicated Ph. D and research scholars who were capable enough to answer the queries raised by the students during the visit.

The industrial visit included sessions on CNC Workshop, Physics of Energy Harvesting Group – Deployment of Organic Photovoltaic (OPV) cells, Organic / Polymer Development Unit & Semiconductors. Students were taken to crystal growth lab, where experts of that lab explained the basic steps of the crystal growth of silicon and delivered a short lecture on component of the fabrication of electronic component and how silicon is extracted from the raw material and how it is used in the electronic industry.

The basic objective behind these activities is to make students better informed and become more knowledgeable and highly skilled so that they can prove to be more competitive, productive and useful to the society and the country.

The visit culminated with a valedictory function where Dr. R.C. Budhani Director, NPL conveyed his message to the students electronically. Overall, this industrial visit provided a valuable opportunity to the students to think and work on recent research schemes.
