Two Days International Conference

Smart Trends for Information Technology and Computer Communications

(Smartcom 2016)

6th - 7th August, 2016

Mr. Sumit Kumar, Assistant Professor, ECE Department, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended two days International Conference on Smart Trends for Information Technology and Computer Communications (Smartcom 2016) from 6th - 7th August 2016 at Hotel Four Points by Sheraton, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.

The objective of the international conference was to provide opportunities to the Researchers, Academicians, Industry Persons to interact and exchange ideas, experience and expertise in the current trend and strategies for Information and Communication Technologies. Besides this, participants were also enlightened about vast avenues, current and emerging technological developments in the field of Information and Knowledge Computing in this era and its applications.

The conference schedule was divided into six major tracks under various themes and chaired by the eminent personalities of various reputed institute of country. Total four technical sessions were organized on 7th August 2016 i.e. Technical Session 1-A, 1-B, 2-A & 2-B. Mr. Sumit Paper Id was 293 & presented in Technical Session 2-B entitled “Layer Based Security in Internet of Things: Current Mechanisms, Prospective Attacks, and Future Orientation”. A little description about the article in the form of abstract is given below –

Internet of things (IoT) has now become a fascinating system that improves information technology for its use in homes, cities and medical sectors. IoT works as an extension of internet to realize interconnections among every day object based on platform independent communication protocols. Object forming IoT must possess sensing, communication, and computation capabilities leading to a convenient as well as economical assistance for society. Interaction among heterogeneous objects enhances the security vulnerabilities in IoT. The current four layered communication stack of IoT supports protocols at each layer for enabling connectivity of heterogeneous objects. With security as a prime concern, communication in IoT need to maintained using a secure mechanism to protect the system from attacks. The paper analyzes various existing protocols at each layer with their inherent security mechanisms and exposing their vulnerabilities to different attacks. The paper will unlock new research areas for improving the inbuilt security mechanisms.

The Conference Proceedings will be published in Springer CCIS Series i.e. Communications in Computer and Information Science.

During the programme, novel ideas were shared and discussed thoroughly for understanding the disciplines in detail. Further, the interaction with other researchers & faculty members from the various reputed institutes made the programme a great success.
