Electronica India and Productronica India 2015, organized by MMI India Pvt. Ltd. was a 3 day event being held from 9th - 11th September 2015 at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, India. Five students of ECE department from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the event on 10th September 2015. The event hosted for 600 companies, 350 exhibitors from 15 different countries. |
It was a leading fair for electronic components, systems and applications, computer aided engineering, automation, measuring and control. One important pillar of the trade fair was the communication platform for the Electronics & Electrical Goods industry. International market leaders from different continents participated in the event. The exhibitors showcased at the event their innovative and high-quality products. The information booths of the different exhibitors provided an opportunity for a mutual exchange of information and experience. The event displayed products ranging from semiconductors, sensors, relays, switched and interconnection technology to passive components, motors/drives, cables, ED/EDA, assemblies and subsystems to test and measurement technology, Displays and power supplies. |

Mr. Bhupinder Singh, CMO and Member of the Management Board, MMI India in his opening remarks said that the event shall serve as platform for business environment. All sectors of this industry are now heading for growth. With the Government of India’s flagship program ‘Make in India’ – to push local manufacturing – and initiatives like ‘Smart Cities’ and ‘Digital India’, the industry expects to reduce its dependency on electronic import by 50 % by 2016-17. |
The defense electronics related event DEFTRONICS 2015 hosted by India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), was scheduled at the event. The theme address was delivered by Padma Bhushan Baba Kalyani, Chairman & MD, Kalyani Group and the Chief Guest was Sh. Ravi Shankar Prasad, H’ble Union Minister for Communications & IT, Govt. of India. |
The theme for DEFTRONICS 2015 was Building Global Partnerships for ‘Make in India’ in the Aerospace, Defense and Internal Security sectors. The platform focused primarily on aspects like opportunities in design and R&D, IP creation, nurturing entrepreneurship in the Aerospace, Defence and Internal Security (ADIS) space in conjunction with policy and business related matters and issues. The forum emphasised on specific skillset development required for ADIS ecosystem to build India as the manufacturing destination for military-industrial complex across the globe. |
The event also hosted summit with leading representatives from major companies to give insights into relevant industry topics. These discussion forums deliberated on topics like EMS, Automotive electronics and Aero space/Defence. |
In the valedictory session Mr. P V Sivaram Managing Director, B&R India said that industry needed automation as the backbone since it is the pre requisite of any industry. He added that SMEs should invest in standardization and utilization of open technologies. |
It was an informative, interesting and an eye opening event for all of us as budding engineers. The expo helped the students to understand the use of electronics in different fields of manufacturing and production at the industrial level. |
