CONFERENCE ON GOOGLE INPUT/OUTPUT VIEWING PARTY 2014

 

Anshul Patro (Roll No. 14605), student of VII Semester from Electronics and Computer Engineering Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended a live conference on GOOGLE I/O 2014 VIEWING PARTY at Investopad, Sector-32, Gurgaon organized by Google Developer Group, New Delhi on 26th June 2014. The two products that were focused at Google I/O 14 were Android and Chrome.

In the first session Mr. Sundar Pichai, Senior Vice President (Android, Chrome & Apps) discussed the current Android user and its market at present. Another speaker Mr. Matias Duarte, Vice President, Design talked about the latest design of Google for all products. He further spoke about replacing screen with smart material which can not only help with pixels but also to realize depth, a material which can change shape accordingly which led to the concept of Material Design.

Mr. Dave Burke introduced the 5000 new APIs and the latest developments are new material theme, new animation capabilities, 3D views with real time shadows, activity transitions with shared hero elements, ripple touch effects, change of dialer, fast and simple access to notifications with prioritized notifications between works.

In the second session, CHROME was introduced by Ms. Avni Shah, Director of Product Development, and Chrome. Other experts Mr. Dave Burke, Director of Engineering Android, Mr. Sundar Pichai, Senior Vice President (Android, Chrome & Apps); Mr. David Singleton, Director of Engineering Android and Mr. Patrick Braddy, Director of Engineering Android also shared various upcoming technical applications and features of Chrome.

Mr. Patrick Braddy, Director of Engineering Android introduced a new feature of Android with a better voice recognition system and so updated that you can talk to your phone while driving. Your phone will completely work on your voice commands like changing of music, answering a call, writing a message and navigation support and can solve all your questions like you can simply ask visiting hours of a place and it will revert back.

This session was followed by the basic development of Android applications was taught to student through videos. At the end, quiz was conducted and goodies were distributed to the winners.
