“IEEE AUTHORSHIP WORKSHOP” at IIT Delhi

 

Ms. Priyanka Mahani Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon along with seven students (Akshant Gupta, Himanshu Chugh, Lalin Narayan Jha, Neelima Saini, Nitigya Grover, Nitin Garg, Sunita Mandal) of 5th semester attended the workshop titled “How to publish a Technical Paper with IEEE” was conducted by IEEE @IIT-Delhi on 11th August’14.

The workshop began with a welcome address by Dr. Bhim Singh, HOD Electrical Dept, IIT Delhi followed by Ms. Nancy Blair-De Leon Senior Manager, Author Engagement and Content Discoverability, IEEE who gave the introduction about IEEE, the Largest Technical Membership Association. She briefed about how many journals and conferences are conducted by IEEE per year along with the current data available on IEEE Xplore and other information related to IEEE conferences and journals.

Prof. Sifur Rahman Director, Advanced Research Institute, Virginia Tech, USA the keynote speaker, talk about on the technical aspects of paper writing and how the paper should be properly structured and well written to avoid rejection. After a “High Tea” break he continued with ethical issues involved in paper writing like plagiarism, the levels of acceptance of journals and conferences. It was followed by a brief interaction round withthe audience.

Ms. Rachel Berrington Director, IEEE Client Services IEEE carried the discussion forward and told about the various types of journals available and told how to use the various author tools like IEEE Xplore, IEEE Transactions, Open Access journals etc.

Overall the workshop was informative and beneficial for the attendees. As a memento small diary, pen set and a certificatedistributed to all the attendees.
