INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO CENTRE FOR E-GOVERNANCE, NEW DELHI

 

On 8th August 2014, 30 students from VII Semester of Electronics & Computer Engineering department along with two faculty coordinator Mr. K.K Singh and Mrs. Akanksha Kulshreshtha (ECS) from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon visited to Center of e-Governance, Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) Electronics Niketan,6 CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi-110003.

The main purpose of this Industrial visit was to introduce students with e-Governance projects. The students were introduced with e-Governance definition, its evolution, policies and services. The Center of e-Governance is a part of the Awareness and Communication activity under National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), students were informed about vision of National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) and Mission Mode Project (MMPs).

The Center of e-Governance provided a platform forvarious e-Projects implemented by central Government like Banking, Central Excise & Customs, Income Tax (IT), Insurance, Passport, Pension, etc. and various State level e-Projects are Agriculture, Commercial Taxes, e-District, Land Records (NLRMP), Municipalities, e-Panchayats, Road Transport, PDS, Education and Health etc. A number of projects implemented in collaboration of central Government and State Government are CSC, e-Biz, e-Courts, e-Procurement and India Portal etc. Students were briefed about CSC (common services center) infrastructure, Mobile Service Delivery Gateway, e-Pramaan and National Policy on Information Technology, they introduced with an Open Source Operating System named BOSS (Bharat operating system solution). BOSS is an open source operating system based on Linux kernel developed by C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) available in 22 Indian official languages.

Some of the e-governance projectswere demonstrated, they are-

1. MEE-SEVA developed by the government of Andhra Pradesh.

2. SANYOG developed by IIT-Kharagpur.

3. ENOVISION-Integrated Electronic Nose & Vision.

At the end a Quiz was conducted consisting of general awareness questions in which top three students got prizes. The visit was informative and beneficial.
