Session on India and the Emerging World Order

Organized by Ananta Aspen Centre

 
 

On 16th March 2015, Three Faculty members Mr. Amar Saraswat, Mrs. Renu and Ms. Pankti Brar of Computer Science & Engineering Department, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended a session on “India and the Emerging World order” organized by Ananta Aspen Centre at WWF India Auditorium , Lodhi Estate , New Delhi.

 

The session started with the introductory remarks by Ashley J. Tellis, Senior Associate at Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He discussed about creating new Drivers for Growth of the country. The session proceeded with the talk by Governor Jon M. Hunstman Jr, Chairman of the Atlantic council. He talked about the new trends, challenges, needs and opportunities that will shape the trajectory of the new growth countries in the coming period. He focused that despite many problems, the potential for a still high, sustainable growth remains strong for the developing countries in the world. He further talked about the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) which is a proposed regional regulatory and investment treaty and India’s role in TPP and remarked that India is transforming from a balancing power to a leading power.

 

Frederick Kempe, President and CEO of the Atlantic Council discussed that there is a catalyst required to develop a fruitful dialogue among business leaders, government officials and the civil society from the countries of the new constellation of growth on how to strengthen economic momentum and generate new sources of growth through the deepening of partnership strategies for rapid sustainable development in Asia.

 

The overall session was very informative and enlightening about economic growth of our country, the different hurdles the country is facing, measures to be taken to promote growth and the role of entrepreneurs.
