Knowledge Expo was organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in collaboration with Department of Science & Technology (DST), Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Department of Industrial Planning & Promotion (DIPP), All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) & India Design Council and Intellectual Property India at Indo Expo Centre, Greater Noida, Delhi NCR, India on 20th November 2014.

Each year, CII Conducts 05 separate programs on various themes in collaboration with the aforesaid agencies. This year, CII has organized all programs simultaneously under one roof in Knowledge Expo. During Knowledge Expo, following 05 events were organized:
1. 14th CII NID Design Summit,
2. 1st CII DIPP-IPP International Conference on Intellectual Property Law & Enforcement of IPR,
3. 02nd Global Innovation & Technology Alliance Platform,
4. 1st CII-NSTEDB Innovation & Entrepreneurship Summit
5. 04th AICTE-CII Global University Congress

There was a common inauguration program for all the five events which was held at Banquet Hall. Welcome address was given by Mr. Chandrajit Banerjee – Director General, CII. Dr. S. S. Mantha - Chairman, AICTE, Mr. Shatrughan Singh – Joint Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Mr. Kris Gopalkrishnan, Mr. Udyant Malhoutra – Chairman, CII National Committee on Design, were present on the dias. |

Mr. Chandrajit Banerjee spoke about a new initiative for upliftment of Technical education in our country “GEETA which is related with Global Engineering standards”. His address was followed by a speech by Dr. S. S. Mantha where the issue of lack of quality teachers in India was raised. Dr. Mantha shared his concerns about the quality in Technical Education and the quality of graduating engineers from private engineering colleges. He also spoke about a new initiative “SWAYAM”. Dr. Mantha’s talk was followed by address of Mr. Shatrughan Singh in which he briefed the audience about various schemes and initiatives of the Ministry of Policy & Promotion. |

CII Design Excellence awards were also given in the Inauguration Session where Tata Zest got the award for the best designed Automobile. ‘Design Year Book’ was also released by the dignitaries. |

Session II was started by the address of Dr. Naushad Forbes –Vice President, CII. He welcomed Honorable Minister of Human Resource Development Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani. Mr. Ajay S Shriram – Chairman, CII shared the planning and commitment of CII for uplifting the level of technical education in the country. |

Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani – Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Govt of India addressed the audience and talked about the need of good technical education. She briefed the audience about the “Think in India” campaign of MHRD which is inspired from Honrable Prime Minister’s “Make in Media” concept. She also talked about “SAARANSH” and “GIAN” initiatives of the ministry. |

The session was concluded with the declaration of the result of AICTE-CII Survey in which various colleges were awarded for their exceptional industrial collaboration. Dronacharya College of Engineering, Guragaon was the only college nominated for two Departments (Computer Science and Electronics & Communication) from North & North West India. Total 2345 colleges participated in the engineering segment (Emerging and established), out of which 536 colleges competed for Computer Science Department and 528 Colleges competed for ECE Department. Out of these hundreds of colleges 06 colleges were selected for the Jury Visits. |

Dronacharya is the only college of North & North-West India which has been selected for the Jury visit for both these departments. AICTE - CII 2014 Survey report was also released at the event by the honorable minister. The session ended with the vote of thanks by Mr. Ajay S Shriram. |
