IEEE Event: A Talk by Dr. Arun Padakandla

Three students Deepak Chandel(15024), Sanjay Yadav(14087) and Vishal Sharma(14126) from Computer Science Engineering Department from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended a talk by “Dr. Arun Padakandla” organized by The IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), Delhi Chapterat IIT Delhi, Hauz Khas, New Delhi on 21st August 2014.

Dr. Arun Padakandla,Research Assistant, University of Michigan delivered a lecture on “An Algebraic Framework for Multi-terminal Communication“. The center of attraction of the event was a new coding technique by the speaker, which was based on the coset codes for the communication over three multi-terminal channels. He also characterized the performance of the proposed coding technique in an information theoretic framework along with topics in which a student can undergo a research related to communication.

The coset codes for communication are based over three multi-terminal channels including the three user discrete broadcast (3-BC) and interference channels (3-IC). The speaker identified instances of 3-BC and 3-IC, including non-additive ones, for which the presented achievable rate region is strictly larger than current known largest. Moreover, for these examples, the proposed coding technique was capacity achieving. The findings were based on a new algebraic framework developed for an information theoretic study of multi-terminal communication channels.

Dr. Arun Padakandla introduced a new encryption technique in which he used the concepts of some basic algorithms and hexadecimal technique. He also put light on the topologies of communication network. He showcased the detailed study of switches, routers, hubs which he used in his research work and gave focus on various encryption and de-encryption techniques for various purpose. The talk revolved around the efficiency of the communication network and how people can use communication in day to day life easily. The main concept of the talk was to minimize the limitations which currently users are facing to a certain extent. He showcased the various encryption algorithms in the simplified manner and the practical application of these algorithms.

At the end Dr. Arun Padakandla shared the platform with the researchers and scientists of the country. It was very informative event for attendees as they learned lot of new things. The session was interactive as there was a special question hour session.
