Guest Lecture on Entrepreneurship

21st October 2016

 

Entrepreneurship Development Cell of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized a guest lecture on ENTREPRENEURSHIP on 21st October 2016 with an objective to motivate and direct students towards becoming a successful entrepreneur. 53 students from CSE Department attended the lecture. The speaker at the event was Mr. Salil Agrawal (Alumni of IIM Ahmedabad), Course Director at 91university.

 

The objective of the session was The goal of 91university is to help and create a new breed of entrepreneurs who can establish their foundation on the basis of hands on training on practical aspects, exposure to industry stints and the knowledge of how to overcome entrepreneurial challenges by creating an interactive environment.Its flagship course is “The Foundation Course for Entrepreneurs” that teachesthe basics of business and prepares you for being an entrepreneur.

 

The session started by the introduction to entrepreneurship by Mr. Salil Agrawal. He then created a challenge in which he asked students to assume that they have 10 rupees how they will reach their native place. There were several replies from the students, he then cross questioned them and gave his expert opinion on each reply. The motive of this task was to know how the students will think if they are stuck in a non favorable situation, because to become an entrepreneur one must have quick and effective thinking and skills to get out from such situations.

 

Next he explained that why one should become an entrepreneur. He said that an entrepreneur is his own boss. Being an Entrepreneur is becoming a job creator which also contributes to the society. Today even Government is creating a climate and support systems for Entrepreneurship.

 

The event then continued with a discussion on how one can improve his / her chances of success in the path of becoming an Entrepreneur in which Mr. Agrawal told the students about some do’s and don’ts. He stated necessary steps to become a successful entrepreneur i.e Evaluate your business skills, knowledge and goals, Find the business idea that suits you best, Research your competitors, Make a stellar business plan, Seek out a helpful mentor.He said that in order to gain success one must be skilled to do something and skills are actually developed and learnt from experienes. “Just Jump in and Keep Learning”.

 

Preparation is very necessary step in any task. One needs to be well prepared and well planned in order to do something. Mr. Agrawal told about a course which is organized by 91 university under which one can gain knowledge and can build his / her path to become a successful entrepreneur.

Concluding the lecture, Mr. Agrawal emphasized on how to get on if One has an Idea, where he gave some valuable tips like Validation of Idea, Creation of a business plan, Testing hypothesis and Finding the first few customers and many others.

 

It was a very interactive session where Mr. Salil Agrawal nurtured the students with his knowledge and what he had learnt from his experiences.
