Third International Conference on Transformations in Engineering Education ( ICTIEE 2016 )

The Third International Conference on Transformations in Engineering Education (ICTIEE) was organised by College of Engineering, Pune in collaboration with Indo - US Collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE) on 9th - 10th January 2016. Faculty member Ms. Reva Nagi from CSE Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the conference.

ICTIEE 2016 was organised to bring Engineering Educators from across the world to share best practices for preparing Engineering graduates who will be leaders in addressing global challenges. Objective is innovations in Engineering for promoting prosperity of mankind, augmenting human resource capital through quality engineering education.

IUCEE (The Indo - US Collaboration for Engineering Education) was established in 2007 with the vision of facilitating Transformations in Engineering Education through global collaborations. The vision of IUCEE is to improve the quality and global relevance of engineering education with focus on faculty development, student development, curriculum development, as well as improved teaching technologies & research.

Outcomes Based Education

The session started with effective implantation of Outcomes Based Education (OBE) from diverse perspective. Benefits to Institutions are as following.

1. Prepare faculty to successfully plan and implement Outcome Based Education

2. Learn best practices from pioneers and thought leaders in OBE

3. Gain hands on experience on OBE implementation with practical assignments

4. Understand the use of technology in implementing OBE

National Instruments covered a ‘Do - Engineering’ approach to teaching Power Electronic Systems and a hands on approach to teaching Wireless Communications using SDR. Demo of MedSim, which consists of medically accurate activities embedded in Virtual Patient was of great interest for the participants.

Dr. Shyam Diwakar presented "Virtual Labs in India" at the Online Labs Workshop organized by Prof. Michael Auer and Danilo Zutin from CTI, Villach, Austria. Virtual Labs is a project initiated by MHRD under NMEICT which aims to provide remote - access to Laboratories in various disciplines of science and engineering for students at all levels from under-graduate to research.

The Conference provided a hands on learning in latest hardware such as LEGO and RASPBERRY PI along with their simulation on Mathworks (Simulink and Virtual labs). By using Simulink tool one can control the hardware device and hence used in remote triggering.
