Principals/ Directors Meet for STTP 2015-16

at NITTTR Chandigarh

 

National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh works for quality education in technical institutions in the Northern Region. NITTTR is responsible for faculty development through training of the faculties of Technical Institutions in the Northern Region. In order to make faculty development more effective and demand-driven, a meeting on proposal of Short Term Training Programmes 2015-16 for Engineering Colleges was conducted on 22nd December 2014. Prof. Vishal Bharti, Head of Department, Computer Science & Engineering represented Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon.

 

Various eminent attendees of the meeting from NITTTR, Chandigarh were Dr. S.B.L. Sachan, Professor & Head, ECE Department, Dr. B.S. Pabla, Professor & Head, ME Department, Dr. Maitree Dutta, Head of Department, CSE, Dr. A.B. Gupta, Professor & Head, Curriculum Development Department and Dr. (Mrs.) S.P. Bedi, Professor & Head, Education & Educational Management Department. Other attendees from around the country were Dr. S.R.N. Reddy from IGDTUW Delhi, Dr. Atul Vir Singh from Shiv Nadar University, Noida and Mr. Mohan Prasad Bajpai from Feroze Gandhi Institute Rae Bareli (UP).

 

The meeting was organised to discuss and select the most enriching and valuable courses for the session 2015-16, which could be conducted in various colleges for faculty development. Dr. Pabla coordinated the event. A presentation including Curriculum Development, Research & Development and Education & Development for six engineering branches was given by Prof. Rama Chhabra. During the meeting, it was also decided to conduct various short term programmes for Lab faculty members, in order to keep them updated with the recent inventions and innovative ideas.

 

The several points that were discussed during the meeting included promotion of Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Industry Institute interaction, effective implementation to curriculum, providing practical training to students, ICT Training, advantages of industrial visits, NCTEL setup which is to be integrated by adding 200 videos online, MOOCs for PCB Design, Animation Tools, Electrical Appliances, and collaboration for Books Publication, Education video films, scripting of films, Operation for IC and Microprocessor, Simulation films.

 

The meeting proved to be very fruitful as several relevant short term training programmes were shortlisted from the list given by various attendees. Significant factors for enhancing quality based learning were discussed which are beneficial for teaching faculty, non-teaching faculty and students. Special focus was on Industry-Institute Interaction Panel, where industries could directly communicate with the institutes for the skill set that they require, so that institutes can design their coursework accordingly to increase the job absorbability of their students.
