“LAUNCH OF CII - INDIA@75 NATIONAL VOLUNTEERING WEEK”

18th – 24th January, 2016

 

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports organized the “Launch of CII - India@75 National Volunteering Week” from 18th - 24th January, 2016. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) works to create and sustain an environment conducive to the development of India, partnering industry, Government, and civil society, through advisory and consultative processes.

 

As part of National Volunteering Week “Volunteer for Swachh Bharat” was organized at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on 18th January 2016. National Volunteer Week is an innovative initiative of India@75to sensitize the people and create a change in mind - set where Indians can volunteer in various capacities by contributing time, skills & resources towards building a better India." The mission aims to encourage people to devote some hours out of their daily activities and work towards cleanliness of India.

 

Mr. Krishanu Kundu, from (CSE) Department and Mr. Amit Bhatia (ME) department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the event.

 

Glimpse of India@75 National Volunteering week

 

National Volunteering week, event was inaugurated by Mr. Rajeev Gupta (Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports). Mr. DNV Kumara Guru (Past National Chair) presided the event and welcomed the dignitaries and attendees by discussing about the facts and aspects of “National Volunteering Week” in brief. National Volunteering Week, aims in engaging the sensitized Indian into action to demonstrate how people can be catalysed in the development of the nation and celebrate volunteers across the country.

 

Next session started with “How to build an Eco system for Volunteerism in India-Need for Synergy and Aggregation”. The Panelist were Mr. Shrikant Sinha, (CEO,NASSCOM ) and Mr.Rahul Nainwal, (Director , Mitra Technology). The main outcome of the session was that we should equip ourselves, and let us make our earth more beautiful. India@75 is also looking at the larger picture of creating huge supplies of volunteers in India and simultaneously strengthens the demand side for better and efficient deployment of volunteer energy, to this effect an institution in the form of National Volunteer Grid is envisaged to be in place shortly to engage volunteers in all forms.

 

The concluding remarks were given by Mr. DNV Kumara Guru who thanked all the dignitaries and the attendees and expressed his hope that India@75 National Volunteering Week which is a grass roots and path breaking initiative for realising the dream of an inclusive, sustainable and developed India by the year 2022, when India completes 75 years of Independence will be achieved.
