Industrial Visit to National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC),

Okhla on February 11, 2015

 

Department of Computer Science Engineering, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized an Industrial visit to NSIC (National Small Industries corporation) was organized on 11th February 2015. Mr. Tanupriya Choudhury, a faculty of the Department accompanied a total of 50 students of B.Tech (CSE).

National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC) is a PSU established by the Government of India in 1955 which falls under Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME). One of the programs being implemented by NSIC is to create self-employment opportunities by imparting training in entrepreneurship building to the unemployed people who want to set up new small business enterprises in any of the manufacturing / services sectors or seek employment opportunities. For this purpose, NSIC has started a new initiative by entering into franchisee arrangements with private partners interested for setting up of Training-cum-Incubation Centres (NSIC-TIC) at various locations across the country under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode. NSIC has already set up more than 90 NSIC-TICs under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode in the country.

This industrial visit was organized with an objective of disseminating entrepreneurship skills among students and creating awareness amongst them to adopt entrepreneurship as a career option. The trip gave students an exposure to all areas of business operations such as business skills development, identification of appropriate technology, hands on experience on working projects, project/product selection, and opportunity guidance including commercial aspects of business. The students were introduced to the varied enterprises they can take right after graduating instead of searching for jobs only. The program made participants familiar about role and importance of MSMEs in Indian Economy, process of setting up of Enterprise, preparing Project Reports, Identifying marketing possibilities as well as with the issues regarding various statutory requirements such as Income Tax, VAT.

The complete program was of 5 hour duration which included a brief about starting a New Business and dissemination of information about NSIC Programs & Schemes by Mr. Ahmed Ali followed by the visit to Incubator for understanding the operations of different machines, their production capacity, marketing strategies, supply chain management and opportunities in the market. After refreshment, a very informative session was taken by Mr. Abdul Khader on Preparing Project Report. They also discussed about different Models of Incubation for setting up new business enterprises, continuing with understanding about different machines, their production capacity, marketing strategies, operation, supply chain management and opportunities available in the market. Taking the program further, there were movies and presentation on NSIC Corporate & Incubation Program.

Finally, Mr. Abdul Khader made a presentation on “Today’s Youth Tomorrow’s Entrepreneur” followed by a visit to machine lab. The specialists explained about different projects based upon computer hardware and networking, computer embroidery, Solar Channels etc. The students enjoyed the ‘worthy knowledge’ session thoroughly with satisfactory answers to their queries
