9th International & 45th Annual ELT@I Conference

on

“English From Classes to Masses”

 
 
 

Prakhar Sethi, Roll No. 16115, III-semester student of Department of Computer Science & Engineering along with Dr. Parul Mishra, Assistant Professor, Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon presented a joint paper titled "Podcast: A Tool for Educational Advancement" in a three- day 9th International & 45th Annual ELT@I Conference on “English - From Classes to Masses,” organized by English Language Teachers’ Association of India (ELT@I) and Vivekanand Global University (VIT Campus), Jaipur from 21st - 23rd August, 2014.

 

The conference was supported by British Council and RELO, U.S. Embassy, New Delhi. Various dignitaries from different platforms like Ms. Diane M Miler, Director, RELO; Mr. Christopher Brandwood, Director, British Council; Prof. K. Elango, Secretary, ELT@I; Prof. R.P. Bhatnagar, Professor Emeritus; Prof.(Dr.) M. Raisinghani, Vice Chairperson, VGU; Dr. Sanjay Arora, President, ELT@I National; Dr. Ganashyam Iyenger, Vice-President, ELT@I; Dr. Bandana Chakrabarty, President ELT@I Rajasthan; Dr. Gaurav Bagadia, Director General VIT Campus shared their views on the factors responsible for making English a lingua franca and its wide spread use.

 

The objective of the conference was to deliberate the ideas with the leading experts and learners in the field of English Language and to provide a platform where one can exchange their perspectives, the ever expanding styles and strategies in teaching and learning to benefit the students.

 

The presentation by Dr. Parul Mishra and Prakhar Sethi focused on the shift in teaching styles, use of tools and techniques. It also discussed how the Podcast may help in building world class standards in language learning. The conference commenced with plenary sessions, debates, panel-discussion, symposiums, colloquium, workshops, assessments, technical and paper reading sessions by ELT practitioners from around the country and the world sharing their experience, teaching styles and innovative practices.

 

The conference was academically quite enriching and beneficial.
